Filling credentials
When a host asks for a password, choose Shell > Fill Credentials… (⌥⌘P) or click the key button in the toolbar.
The credentials sheet
- Saved in your keychain lists the entries OliTerm has saved, with the current host’s entries first. Click one to fill both fields below. Right-click an entry to Delete from Keychain.
- The User name and Password fields support the system AutoFill menu — entries from Apple Passwords appear there.
- If you use 1Password, press ⌘\ in a field to fill through 1Password’s own Universal Autofill. (SSH hosts aren’t websites, so password-manager items tied to web domains can’t appear in the system picker — that’s a macOS limitation, not something OliTerm controls.)
- Save to Keychain stores what’s in the two fields as a keychain item for this host, so it appears in the list next time.
Inserting
Insert Password (↩) and Insert User Name type the value into the terminal followed by Return, answering the prompt in one step. The sheet closes, and the password field is cleared.
Note
Credentials are stored as ordinary items in your login keychain — OliTerm’s
list shows only the items OliTerm itself saved. Nothing is stored in the app’s
own files.
Tip
For hosts you use a lot, key-based login is still better: log in once, choose
Shell > Install SSH Key on Host… (⇧⌘K), and later
sessions authenticate with your key instead of the password — see
Terminal sessions.
