Privacy policy
This policy covers two things: the website oliterm.app, and the OliTerm app on your Mac. The short version: the website keeps no cookies and runs no analytics, and the app sends nothing to us. The details follow.

Who is responsible
Boinx Software International GmbH, Industriestr. 9, 82110 Germering, Germany, is the controller in the sense of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Write to support@boinx.com for anything concerning your data.
The website oliterm.app
Server logs
The site consists of static pages served by DreamHost, LLC, in the United States. Like every web server, it records each request in a log: your IP address, the time, the page requested, the browser and operating system you use, and the page you came from. We use these logs only to keep the site running and to investigate abuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). They are kept for a short period and then deleted. Transfers to the United States are covered by the data processing agreement between Boinx and DreamHost.
No cookies, no analytics, no third parties
The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising services, and embeds nothing from other servers. The fonts are served from oliterm.app itself, not from Google. Nothing on this site tracks you.
Downloads and updates
The OliTerm download and the update feed are hosted on oliterm.app, on the same server as this site, so the server-log paragraph above applies to them. Each download is also counted: OliTerm records the time, the file name, whether the download came from the website or from the app’s updater, and a pseudonymous key derived from your address and browser with a secret salt and the date, so that repeat downloads on the same day count once. The key changes every day and cannot be turned back into your address; the address itself is not stored. The total appears on the front page.
Contact
The contact link on this site leads to the support form on mimolive.com, another Boinx website. What you enter there is processed under the mimolive.com privacy policy in order to answer you. If you e-mail us instead, we keep your message for as long as it takes to deal with your request and as long as commercial law requires.
The OliTerm app
What stays on your Mac
Your hosts, groups, snippets and settings are stored in the app’s own folder in your user account’s Application Support directory. Passwords and user names you save through Fill Credentials are stored in your login keychain, the same place macOS keeps your other passwords; OliTerm keeps a list of the items it created and nothing more. None of this is sent to Boinx or anyone else. OliTerm has no account system, no cloud sync, no analytics and no crash reporting.
Connections to your own hosts
SSH sessions, file listings, transfers and the host-info popover all use the system ssh and scp commands to talk directly to the hosts you configured. Your traffic goes from your Mac to your host and nowhere else.
Update checks
OliTerm uses the Sparkle framework to check for updates. On first launch it asks whether it may check automatically; if you agree, it fetches the update feed from oliterm.app about once a day. That request carries your IP address and the app’s name and version in the usual HTTP headers, and is logged by the server as described above; when an update is downloaded, it is counted like a download from the website. No system profile or usage data is sent. You can decline automatic checks when first asked and still use OliTerm > Check for Updates… whenever you like.
The AI assistant on your Mac
By default the assistant uses Apple Intelligence through Apple’s Foundation Models framework. Those requests are processed on your Mac and do not leave it.
The AI assistant and agent with Claude
If you enter your own Anthropic API key in Settings, OliTerm sends your requests directly to Anthropic’s API (api.anthropic.com). What is sent: the messages you type in the assistant panel; if you switched on share terminal context in Settings, up to the last 2,000 characters of the current terminal’s output; and in agent mode the commands the agent runs, their output, and the contents of files it reads or writes on the host. Anthropic processes this under your own agreement with Anthropic and its privacy policy. Boinx never sees your key or your conversations; the key is stored in your login keychain. If you never enter a key, nothing is ever sent to Anthropic.
Your rights
You have the right to obtain information about the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Given how little this site and the app collect, in practice this concerns your e-mails and support requests. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority; for Boinx that is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
Changes
If the website or the app starts doing something new with data, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes. The current version is always at oliterm.app/privacy.html.
